What is ACCA?
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is a widely recognized professional accounting body with a membership of over 200,000 and 600,000 students spanning 180+ nations. The ACCA course is considered one of the most distinguished certifications in the field of accounting and is a popular choice among students seeking to establish a successful career overseas. The ACCA qualification is also considered the most extensive professional accounting certification worldwide.
Who is eligible to become an ACCA member?
To be eligible for ACCA, an individual:
- Must be 18 years old.
- Must complete his 10+2
- Needs to have a 65% average score in Math.
- Must have a 50% average score in English.
What is ACCA course structure?
The ACCA consists of 13 exams, which are divided into three tiers:
- Knowledge Level – Applied Knowledge exams provide a broad introduction to the field of finance and develop essential accounting understanding and techniques. These exams include Business and Technology (BT), Financial Accounting (FA), and Management Accounting (MA).
- Skill Level – Applied Skills exams build on existing knowledge and develop strong, broad, and practical finance skills required of future professional accountants. These exams include Corporate and Business Law (LW), Taxation (TX), Financial Reporting (FR), Performance Management (PM), Financial Management (FM), and Audit and Assurance (AA).
- Professional Level – Strategic Professional exams prepare students for leadership positions by developing a strategic vision using technical, ethical, and professional skills. This includes two Essentials exams :
- Strategic Business Reporting (SBR)
- Strategic Business Leader (SBL))
Students must complete two of the four Options exams.
- Advanced Financial Management (AFM)
- Advanced Audit and Assurance (AAA)
- Advanced Taxation (ATX)
- Advanced Performance Management (APM)).
The Knowledge Level exams are available to take any day of the year, while the Skill and Professional Level exams are offered four times each year – March, June, September, and December.
All three levels of the ACCA program are computer-based (CBE).
- Students must complete the Ethics and Professional Skills module, which will help them develop a full range of advanced ethical and professional skills and will expose them to realistic business situations.
- To qualify for ACCA membership, students must complete a minimum of 36 months of relevant work experience and nine performance objectives, which a practical experience supervisor must sign.
What books are recommended by the ACCA?
The ACCA has given approved the following providers of content:
- BPP Learning Media
- Kaplan Publishing
- Becker Professional Education.
These approved providers contain excellent question-and-answer banks and are an excellent way to get used to the type of questions asked in exams. They are constantly updated to adhere to the latest syllabus content, examinable documents, and assessment format. You should therefore make these your primary practice source.
What are the various fees under ACCA?
The ACCA charges various fees ranging from exam registration to annual subscriptions. Here is a rundown of the fees charged by ACCA:
- There is a one-time fee that every student has to pay for registration. This payment makes you an ACCA student granting you access to the ACCA portal and past examinations. The Registration fee amounts to £30.
- The Knowledge Level exams have three papers, and their fee is £84 per paper.
- he Skill Level is composed of 6 papers, and its fee is £129 per paper.
- Lastly, the Professional Level comprises four papers, two of which are mandatory and two chosen from a set of 4, and its fee is £ 713 for all the four paper
- Fees for Ethics and Professional model is £ 71
- The ACCA annual Subscription fee of students is £122 and failure to pay or complete the CPD requirement can result in you being removed from the registration.
- The ACCA annual Subscription fee of Affiliates is £142 and for Members it is £283
- If you want to claim exemption then exemption fee needs to be paid which is £84 for Skill Level and £112 for knowledge level
