CFA After US CMA: Does This Combination Really Make Sense? As a commerce counsellor, I often meet students who have
If you are planning to pursue the US CMA Certified Management Accountant qualification, one of the first questions that comes to your mind is:
“How much does the US CMA course actually cost?”
“Is there any way to reduce the US CMA fees?”
“Do students get extra discounts?”
Good news. Yes.
And in this blog, I will break down the exact, updated US CMA cost structure, explain student vs professional pricing, and show you how I helped students save over ₹40,000 by registering through a Learning Partner like Megha Bhansali Classes.
Let us simplify everything.
There are two ways to register for the US CMA program with the IMA Institute of Management Accountants.
Student Category
For full time students who:
• Are below 21 years of age, and
• Are enrolled in a full time graduate or postgraduate program
Professional Category
For all other candidates which include working professionals, part time students, or anyone above 21.
Both categories have different entrance fees, membership fees, and exam fees.
Let us start with the student category.
A. Standard US CMA Fees for Students Without Discount
• Entrance Fee: 147 dollars
• Student Membership Fee: 225 dollars
• Exam Fees:
Part 1: 407 dollars
Part 2: 407 dollars
Total = 147 + 225 + 407 + 407 = 1186 dollars
This is the official IMA cost.
B. Discounted Fees Available Only Through an IMA Learning Partner
At Megha Bhansali Classes, because we are an IMA approved Learning Partner, students get an exclusive 45 percent discount on the entrance, membership, and exam fees.
Here is the discounted cost:
• Entrance plus Membership after 45 percent off: 372 dollars → 204 dollars
• Exam Part 1: 407 dollars → 241 dollars
• Exam Part 2: 407 dollars → 241 dollars
Total Discounted Student Cost = 204 + 241 + 241 = 686 dollars
Real Example
Last month, one of my students, Ritika, was shocked when she realised she would have to pay 1186 dollars to IMA.
When she registered through our partner link, her total came down to 686 dollars, a saving of almost ₹41,000.
This is why most students prefer registering through a Learning Partner.
If you are not a full time student, you will fall under the professional category.
A. Standard CMA USA Fees for Professionals Without Discount
• Entrance Fee: 295 dollars
• Professional Membership: 300 dollars
• Exam Fees:
Part 1: 545 dollars
Part 2: 545 dollars
Total = 295 + 300 + 545 + 545 = 1715 dollars
B. Discounted Fees for Professionals Only Through Learning Partner
Professionals get a 35 percent discount through Megha Bhansali Classes.
• Entrance plus Membership after discount: 595 dollars → 384 dollars
• Exam Part 1: 545 dollars → 436 dollars
• Exam Part 2: 545 dollars → 436 dollars
Total Discounted Professional Cost = 384 + 436 + 436 = 1256 dollars
Real Example
A working professional, Aman, who joined our November batch, paid the discounted fees of 1256 dollars instead of 1715 dollars, saving nearly ₹38,000.
| Category | Standard Cost | Discounted Cost | Savings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Students | 1186 dollars | 686 dollars | About 500 dollars (₹41,000 approx) |
| Professionals | 1715 dollars | 1256 dollars | About 459 dollars (₹38,000 approx) |
Discounts are available only when you register through an IMA approved Learning Partner like Megha Bhansali Classes.
Absolutely. Here is why the investment pays off:
• Global recognition in more than 100 countries
• High salaries ranging from ₹6 to ₹12 LPA for freshers in India and higher abroad
• Only two exams which enables faster completion
• Corporate focused curriculum including FP and A, costing, financial analysis, and budgeting
If you are planning a career in finance, management accounting, data analytics or FP and A, CMA USA is one of the most ROI positive courses available today.
If you are eligible for the student category, please use it because the savings are massive.
And even for professionals, the partner discount easily saves ₹30,000 to ₹45,000.
I have personally guided hundreds of commerce students through this process, and the most common mistake is registering directly without checking eligibility and discounts.
