Decoding all ACCA Subjects

ACCA course is divided into 3 levels with 13 papers, but let us understand what is each Level comprise of and what is the syllabus of each Paper.

Level 1: Knowledge Level which consist of three papers and the exam is on-demand:

1) Business and Technology (BT)

This subject helps students to undertand all details of business operations, their internal and external enviornment. It is will also help students understand the critical role of finance professional in business and its operations.

2) Financial Accounting (FA)

FA focuses on principles and concepts of financial accounting, accounting techniques and the preparation of basic financial statements

3) Management Accounting (MA)

MA techniques will help students to develop a business plan, control and monitor the performance of business. It also helps in understanding how finance is managed with an organisation with the aim of enhancing business performance.

Level 2: Applied Skill Level consist of six papers and exams are held every quartely:

4) Corporate and Business Law (LW)

LW develops knowledge and skills in the understanding of the general legal framework, and of specific legal areas relating to business, recognising the need to seek further specialist legal advice where necessary.

5) Performance Management (PM)

PM is all about applying MA skills and techniques to quantitative and qualitative information for planning, decision-making, performance evaluation and control.

6) Taxation (TX)

TX is understanding the tax laws and system applicable to individuals, companies and group of companies.

7) Financial Reporting (FR)

FR is one of the core subjects of ACCA, and helps in understanding accounting standards and the framework which are used in preparing the financial statements of entities and group of companies. FR also helps student develop skills to analyse and interpret a set of financial statements.

8) Audit and Assurance (AA)

AA helps understand the basis of audit, how audit is performance and covers all aspects of audit reporting and complaince procedures.

9) Financial Management (FM)

FM helps student develop the knowledge and skills expected of a finance manager, in relation to investment, financing and dividend policy decisions.

Level 3: Professional Level, consist of two compulsary subject and two optional subject.

Compulsary Subject:

10) Strategic Business Reporting (SBR):

SBR it is an extension of FR paper, where in more practical and application of accounting standards are discussed. It also focus on complex issues involved with group accounting.

11) Strategic Business Leader (SBL):

SBL mirrors the workplace and provides you with real world challenges allowing you to demonstrate a blend of technical, practical and professional skills.

Optional Subject: (Choose any two from the below):

P1) Advance Financial Management (AFM):

AFM deals with applying relevant knowledge, skills and exercise professional judgment as expected of a senior financial executive or advisor, in taking or recommending decisions relating to the financial management of an organisation in private and public sectors.

P2) Advance Performance Management (APM):

APM focuses on applying strategic management accounting techniques in different business contexts and to contribute to the evaluation of the performance of an organisation and its strategic development.

P3) Adavance Taxation (ATX):

ATX helps develope skills required to be an tax professional i.e providing relevant information and advice to individuals and businesses on the impact of the major taxes on financial decisions and situations.

P4) Advance Audit and Assurance(AAA):

AAA is again one the core area of work of an ACCA, helps you deal with more real life situation and examples on how audit is conducted.
